Location: Kalasey Beach, south of Manado, 20 minutes by car from downtown, 1 hour from the airport.
The Resort is located in an amazing tropical garden with loads of coconut trees and rare plants, native to the South-East Asian forests.
The resort is composed of 10 wooden cottages, built in the traditional Minahasa style (from the north of Sulawesi), with bathroom, hot water, air conditioning, mini-fridge.
From the cottage's terraces you can admire the wonderful gardens and the stunning view over the Bunaken National Marine Park.
The interiors are simple and functional with comfortable beds. The windows and a ceiling fan ensure a natural cool breeze if you do not want to use air conditioning.
Beds and other furniture are built out of traditional materials, like the giant bamboo, from the Sangihe islands (North of Manado) or from the Minahasa hills. The traditional architecture influenced the interior.
As well as having its own terrace, every cottage has some space dedicated to your underwater video/photography equipment.
The restaurant offers a wide choice of Indonesian traditional recipes and international menus.

The movie:

The diving centre has a storage room for the guests' equipment, it boasts a wide and breezy classroom as well as a workshop for equipment maintenance, a video and DVD player. Internet connection available.
The research lab annex is open to visitors. The souvenir shop is well equipped with traditional Indonesian handcrafts.
The beach. Our clean sea calls you for a swim every time. The house reef, in front of your cottage, offers a huge number of fascinating subjects for macro photography. And you enjoy a wonderful view over the Bunaken National Marine Park from the beach.
The recently built swimming-pool is a pleasant gathering point for après-dive relaxation.
Tanta Tina, our masseuse, is the heiress to the ancient tradition of Indonesian massage, an art transmitted from mother to daughter. Massages are available on request, directly in your cottage.
Mapia Resort need not be expensive. We also care for budget travellers who can now take advantage of our low-cost accommodation in our new structure with 3 rooms. These Baley Mapia Rooms are simpler, but have AC, ceiling fan and hot water. Two of the rooms, with bathroom and living room in common, make up a mini-apartment.
As a matter of fact, Manado can now offer what has been missing for years:
• An exclusive, comfortable, relaxed resort in a friendly setting under competent, international (Italian-German) management.
• The ideal starting point to enjoy wonderful diving and a perfect place to experience close contact with the fantastic equatorial wilderness.
• A research centre offering a fun way to learn more about the amazing sea life.
